"Give unto Moloch"

Films: Lord of Tears (2013)

Alias: Moloch

Type: Mystical

Location: Haunted home

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: You don't need much in terms of budget to craft a horrific villain. Sometimes, all you need is a good performance and a few crafting materials to make something truly scary. And what better place to start than haunted houses and ominous owls.

History: The Findlay family has a dark secret. In order to get all their wishes, they’ve had to sacrifice members of their own family (or people tricked into becoming part of it) to the malicious demon Moloch, who prefers the alter-ego of the Owlman. The most recent in the family, James, has been told to never enter the house where the Findlay's had their most recent sacrifice, but he does anyway because he fell for a ghost. The Owlman is now haunting him...

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: James eventually wizens up with the Owlman's schemes, and lets the ghost go so that the demon will stop bugging him. Then his friend seemingly kills him so that Moloch can bring back his dad. At least the house has another sacrifice to keep the demon at bay.

Powers/Abilities: In exchange for sacrifices, the Owlman can grant wishes to people. It can also pop up anywhere if the sacrificial shrine is defaced.

Weakness: Will stay confined to the house if the skull of the latest sacrifice is kept in its place.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Forget that this demon is a jackass genie for a moment and just look at that getup. Those large talons and that haunting stare will stay in your dreams for quite some time. Seriously, just leave that house alone, and you'll be alright.

Trivia: -The Owlman is a cryptid seen in the village of Mawnan, Cornwall, UK. It is considered something of an evil counterpart to the Mothman, mainly due to how almost all encounters involve it assaulting children at churches. However, some have considered the sightings to just be exaggerated encounters with Eurasian eagle-owls.

-In Canaanite mythology, Moloch is the demonic God of child sacrifice via fire and war. His name comes from the Hebrew word for "king", and he is sometimes depicted as a giant cow-like being. However, the film features his name being mistakenly associated with a picture of Andras, the owl-headed Great Marquis of Hell from the Goetia who lives to kill anything that gets in his way.
